8 billion people on Earth, here’s what it means | CBC Kids News
On Nov. 15, 2022, the United Nations estimates that the population on Earth passed eight billion people.
That is a lot of people, especially considering we only hit two billion people in 1928 — less than 100 years ago.
So is our population going to keep growing faster and larger?
And what does eight billion people mean for the planet, sustainability and our future?
In this video, you’ll learn all about global population with CBC Kids News contributor Ainara Alleyne.

Tiny pony from Germany may be world’s smallest | CBC Kids News
Shetland pony Pumuckel might be the tiniest in the world, though he’s still too young to be measured for the Guinness Book of World Records. When he turns four next year, he’ll be old enough to be considered for the title of “world’s smallest pony.” At his home in Breckerfeld, Germany, Pumuckel is allowed to eat indoors and ride in the front seat of his owner’s car. He even goes to hospitals and senior homes where he works as a therapy horse.
Click play to see Pumuckel, possibly the world’s smallest pony.
CORRECTION: This story was updated on Nov. 30, 2023 to correct that horses need to be six years old to be measured for the Guinness Book of World Records, not four.

CORRECTION: This story was updated on Nov. 30, 2023 to correct that horses need to be six years old to be measured for the Guinness Book of World Records, not four.
